INTERGENERATIONAL SAPPERS

National Reunions had started with attendance by ex-World War II Sappers who lived together, got shot at together, for six years 1939-1945. They were a close knit group who trusted each other with their lives. Their ages when they started the reunions would perhaps been between 30 and 50 years old.

These National Reunions have now evolved into attendees being involved in continuous small wars or conflicts with an age goup starting at 18 years old on enlistment and living to over 90 years old, a span of over 70 years at any one time.

Some ideas on intergenerational conversations at RNZE National Reunions should be explored. The aim is to get old and young sappers talking to each other, perhaps about how military engineering was done then compared with now.
