RNZE TRADES OVERVIEW

1.  This page outlines information that the various RNZE trades have in common. It is assumed that clerks, stores etc in would be catered for a Logistics Corps association, so are not included here.

2.  Each trade could look at having their own reunion. A drawback would be such a reunion would cover perhaps 70 years of enlistments and may lead to many attendees not knowing each other. But the Army Fire Service have had successful 'Roll Calls' over the years and haven't found the age range a problem.

3.  Perhaps each trade could set up a display of their trade covering 70 years of equipment progress and work done at successive RNZE National Reunions. Turn about one trade every three years.

4.  It is hoped each of the Trades would keep those who have left the army actively engaged.

5.  At this early stage, there probably won't be a Trades bank account within the Sappers Association [NZ] Inc. Something to consider later.

6.  Facebook for each trade could be considered. Each Facebook would be set at 'Private' and invite Sapper Association members only. The Facebook Administrator could be the Chair of the Era Decade Branch until the Trades gets a bit more organised. Each trade [AFS, Plant Op etc] would need to elect a Facebook Trade Moderator for a year. This could be called a Trade Moderator or TM. The Administrator formalises the new TM each year. Further reading on Facebook, Pages & Events is on 'Sappers / Members' para 24 towards the end.

7.  Each member's Contact profile in Tidy HQ has a field titled 'Trades' with a list of trades [Field Engineer, Carpenter etc] for them to type in when they join the Sappers Association or update their details.

8.   Postcodes are: 0100-0499 Northland; 0500-2999 Auckland; 3000-3999 Waikato BOP; 4000-4999 Taranaki Manawatu Gisborne; 5000-6999 Wellington Wairarapa; 7000-8999 Nelson West Coast Canterbury; 9000-9999 Otago Southland. A is Australia. These are shown inside a bracket [postcode & EorR & F] after the member's name. The 'E' is for Email functioning and the 'R' is for Rejected email address. The 'F' is for the member being on Facebook for that trade.

9.  A possible use for these login trade pages is net working by those leaving the Regular Force towards finding a new job in civvy street. Making contact within like trades could help the transistion.
